Every year we have a family Christmas Party, which eventually grew to be so large it only made sense for the event to be catered. As the lone celiac, I would prepare my own food for the party, but recently a slew of celiacs have been diagnosed in my family. So, with the help of my mom and sister, we set out to ensure there was some food at this year’s Christmas Party for all the celiacs as well.
First we blocked off a little room that was for celiacs only. Then, we prepared three courses. The good news is all these courses (minus the beef which has to go in the oven during the party) can be prepared in advance. And, the best part of this story, all the recipes are on my blog, so I can share this Christmas feast virtually as well!
Course 1: Appetizers
Recipe: Strawberry Soup with mint!
Course 2: Dinner
Recipe: Peppered Beef Tenderloin
Recipe: Cranberry Citrus Muffins
Recipe: Wild Rice Salad
Course 3: Dessert
Recipe: Chocolate Crinkle Cookies
Recipe: Gingerbread Cookies (vegan too!)
Finally, we had some alcoholic (and non-alcoholic beverage options for the celiacs. If you want a sweet, flavored cider, you need to try Rekorderlig from Sweden. While I like the mango and raspberry best, they don’t yet sell it in the states, but the wild berries is pretty good too. And, my cousin’s favorite is the strawberry and lime. 🙂
Which course would be your favorite?! Do you have a favorite dish to prepare during the holiday season?
Merry Christmas, y’all! And I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
P.S: I am of course bringing this meal to my favorite party in the blogosphere- Fiesta Friday. Thank you so much to this week’s cohosts- Judi, Molly, Steffi, and Suzanne. AND, congrats to Angie on #100!!! Love the partying spirit!
