Magical Mondays: Our BabyCakes NYC Adventure

Magical Mondays

Be sure to check out the last three Magical Mondays under Travel Reviews!

UPDATE: BabyCakes has reopened in Downtown Disney and they label which goods are sold at which vendors on their website. (Doughnuts are no longer at Animal Kingdom.) Read more in my UPDATED POST by clicking here!

Somehow, I missed the closing of BabyCakes NYC in Downtown Disney (03/14/2014) before our last Disney trip. For those of you who don’t know BabyCakes NYC is a gluten free and vegan baking company. It’s also a HUGE deal for me because they don’t use tapioca flour in many of their products.

The Adventure!

Our first encounter with a BabyCakes NYC product was at the Allergy Friendly Dining stand in the Animal Kingdom. They had both chocolate covered doughnuts and cinnamon doughnuts at the stand.

NYC Babycakes in Disney

My first doughnut since my celiac diagnosis!

BabyCakes NYC in DisneyI was SO excited to try a doughnut, even though I wasn’t very hungry at the time. My sister says it’s a bit more like a cake in texture than a light fluffy doughnut. Either way, we both found it to be delicious. Who wants to turn down a piece of cake?!

I highly recommend checking out the Allergy Stand in the Animal Kingdom for the other snacks too! Everything is pre-packaged so you don’t need to worry about cross-contact/contamination at all.

That same afternoon, I hopped on BabyCakes NYC’s website, and realized that the Downtown Disney location closed. I was so attached to the idea of more BabyCakes NYC desserts that after a long morning in Hollywood Studios, we started a journey around nearby locations to grab BabyCakes NYC products.

As we exited the park, we hopped on the ferry to the Swan and Dolphin hotel, and walked to the Boardwalk Bakery! (It’s faster than taking the ferry to the Boardwalk stop). BabyCakes NYC in Disney

BabyCakes NYC in DisneyThe Boardwalk Bakery’s refrigerator happened to be broken, but they had plenty of prepackaged cupcakes in the back! After the stop, we hopped on the ferry headed over to the Yacht/Beach club, and walked to the marketplace. They also sold the same cupcakes, so we bought the last two packages in the refrigerated section! BabyCakes NYC in DisneyThe cupcakes are bite size, delicious bites of rich chocolate. And, they come in different flavors too! My favorite was the mint. I wouldn’t even share those! The secondary flavor definitely shines through as well, so I wasn’t the biggest fan of the coffee flavor. But, if you like coffee, I’m sure it’s a great flavor combination!

Now, after a long detour just for me, we walked over to EPCOT, so my mom and sister could grab Starbucks before our double monorail trip back to our Magic Kingdom hotel. They have the wrapped Gluten Free Marshmallow Dream Bars (contains milk) there too! (Don’t know about cross-contact/contamination policies there).

Moral of the Story: Babycakes NYC is delicious, and my family is amazing.
