Fall Cranberries & Baked Apples (GF, V)

Cranberry Baked Apple (GF, V)

So Many Cranberries!

Last weekend, my mom and I went to the 11th Annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration in Wareham, MA! For an event so close to home, I don’t know how we missed out on it in the past. The admissions was $10 for adults, $5 for kids, and free if you dressed up like a mermaid.

There was a farmer’s market and plenty of vendors, but the cranberry bog was by far the best part. I’ve never seen so many cranberries. It looked just like the Ocean Spray ads!

Once we reached the bog, we had the opportunity to go on a tractor ride with a cranberry harvester who answered all our questions. Then, we walked up to a viewing area, where you could see the cranberries coming right out of the bog!

The cranberries are so sour!

Super Strong!

Our brochure had two winning cranberry recipes. One of which was right up my gluten free alley; it used rice wrappers and all. BUT, the first cranberry recipe we decided to make is one that my great-nana loved- Baked Apples. They’re warm, simple to make, perfectly crafted into individual portions, and will put you right in the spirit of autumn. So, let’s move on to the recipe!

Tips & Tricks

  • To avoid a rupturing apple, poke holes on the outside with a fork!
  • For those without an allergy, some nuts might go well in your stuffing as well.

For my Fiesta Friday friends, this weekend, we’re hitting up the end of apple season, so maybe I’ll have another apple recipe ready for next week. I can’t wait to see what y’all are bringing to the party too!

As always, Happy Cooking! And, I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful fall leaves.
