If you’re a glass half full person like me, then your celiac diagnosis just meant that you had one extra tourist attraction in every city you visit- finding all the gluten free restaurants. It’s really fun, I promise! When I travel (and especially when I’m road tripping), I try to stick to dedicated establishments because who wants to be sick on a 8 hour car ride. 🙂
I originally shared a list of dedicated gluten free restaurants in Philly last year, but this year I visited some that I missed in the past and some new restaurants opened up too. So, without further ado, let’s get your mouths watering!
100% Gluten Free Restaurants in Philly
Agno Grill is still a classic in Philadelphia for the gluten free diner. And, it’s my second favorite restaurant (only to Farmer’s Keep). Think of it as a mediterranean Chipotle. The food can be a little costly for what you get, but it’s safe and delicious. My friend and I order the lemon tahini sauce. Don’t worry it’s dairy free. Definitely a great casual spot for any celiac in the Philly area. Learn more in the full review below!
Full Review: Agno Grill
This restaurant only opened up this year, but is by far my favorite restaurant in Philly. All the food is gluten, dairy, nut, egg, and shellfish free. Plus, they have a ton of cool environmentally friendly initiatives. AND, most importantly, they’re food is delicious. (Although, it’s not so rich that you have a bellyache later.) Want to learn, you can check out my full review from two weeks ago.

P.S. & Co.
This restaurant is perfect for anyone who is gluten free and vegan. I don’t openly recommend this place to my friends who aren’t into a health foods scene because it can be a little much. But, I truly enjoyed my meal here this year! To read my review from last year, check out the full review below!

This spot is associated with P.S. & Co., but they have loads of quicker options. (They’re primarily vegan, but not completely vegan.) I really enjoyed my smoothie from here, although it was more of a juice in texture.
I only tried one of their “to-go” food options. I was particularly impressed by their offerings, and while the avocado mousse wasn’t up my alley, it could be up yours.
While the food options may not be my favorite, I must admit that when I’m running around a city, it’s nice to know there’s a place with a healthy to-go snack like carrots and hummus that won’t make me sick!
If I lived in Philly, I would certainly stop by here for their juices (once I knew which ones I liked the most), but I might pass on some of their other options.
100% Gluten Free Restaurants outside of Philly (in PA)
Oasis (Wayne, PA)
Just a half hour outside of the city, this juice shop can serve up a tasty smoothie. I highly recommend the blueberry banana kale combo if that sounds like something you may enjoy. They also have a small store with some unique gluten free items, you won’t find elsewhere. And, they’re staff is super friendly. Want to learn more?! Check out my review from last week.

Gangster Vegan Organics (Norristown, PA)
While not very close to Philly, it is in eastern Pennsylvania. I visited Gangster Vegan, so I definitely wanted to share some pictures to give you an insight as to what the spot looks like. Even though I eat a lot of dairy and egg free items due to food allergies, I’m also a meat eater. Gangster Vegan isn’t exactly a spot targeting my demographic, so I didn’t feel comfortable giving it a full review. But, enjoy the pics! 🙂
That’s about it! This is my complete list for dedicated gluten free spots in Philadelphia. As you can tell, I’m not a big gluten free bakery tourist (unless I’m in NYC or Arkansas). I always search for restaurants and juice shops first! 😀
Happy Tuesday, and have a wonderful week!
P.S: I’m also sharing this at my favorite party in the blogosphere- Fiesta Friday! This week the party is co-hosted by Loretta @ Safari of the Mind and Petra @ Food Eat Love. As for next week, my travels will have brought me to Europe, where I am right now! 😀
